Great big thanks to the many staycationers who visited the show!

Omnigaze is the annual activity during which people around the world share the action of looking at the same point in the sky at the same time. To find this shared point, attendees use the omnigaze device which is made out of printed and cut-out paper and works based on the position of the sun and the attendee’s location. This year the 8th omnigaze coinsided with and was the opening event of the ‘Near enough?’. Using the omnigaze devices, some of which were provided and some build and brought by the visitors, we joined with others around the world in omnigaze from the tolhuistuin garden. Omnigaze is an on-going project initiated and run by Joubin Zargarbashi.

During the exhibition Marta Colpani made live drawings of the visitors’ hands while they were holding their phones. The drawings were piled up on the tables and benches in the garden.

“The hands are the instrument of human intelligence.” Internet-connected devices supposedly extend these possibilities with available knowledge and networks. However, our hands constantly holding a phone are precluded from being able to learn and make contact with the environment where we find ourselves. Observing this phenomenon, Marta Colpani wonders in what ways this habit changes what we think we can do, what we think is in our power to do in our close vicinity.

Closing: Sunday 12.08.2018, in the afternoon you can attach some virtual fabrics to your body with the latest augmented reality fashion experiment by Sander Veenhof and Jacob Kok!

Some visitors just scanned the codes thus making a kind of catalogue in the History list of their bar code scanners.

Near Enough? – the amsterdam edition of the 3rd near-field communication digital art biennale – is calling for works! the idea is to take advantage of the potentials of near field (mis)communication and other sharing technologies for showcasing and making web-based digital art in outdoors settings. after gol(No) and warsaw(PL), #nfcdab#3 will come to amsterdam(NL) and go on to valencia(ES), wroclaw(PL) and possibly prague(CZ), berlin (DE), and athens(GR). the works are being shared between nodes! deadline for submissions is 31 july 2018!

what we’re looking for:

– contextual, parasitic, virtual, imaginary, descriptive, phenomenological, mapping art.

– parasitic on art context and on human perception.

– the character is lo-budget and lo-tech, even to the degree of being ‘bricked’ (unresponsive) as a strategy against the spectacle which is technology.

– a focus on the relation between inert physical objects and their virtual counterpart in a broad sense being objects of our perception – coming alive, activated by innate or prostetic sensors.

– fictionalization, obfuscation, and muddling of information, activating associative, lateral, derailing storylines. a staging of events, not for common digestion all bombyx (written on a box of canned silk worm pupaes). there should always be the possibility that the biennale doesn’t exist. it may be a practical joke or simply a hallucination of arcane references found in public spaces, toilet walls, and bricked streets.

– the works can be textual descriptions of possible or impossible artworks for the locations. invert works to ‘prompts’ for activating the subject ‘in place of the work’.

– alternative mapping strategies between physical and virtual.

– how the tech can be used to invert modes of exhibition and perception.

– people can act like sensors, works can be prompts – an activation of your innate senses.

– descriptive art, the code-tag can act as a prompt for people to write, to email, web or nfc message board.

– a description of a virtual or imaginary artwork, or reinterpretation of a real (or virtual!) work at site.

– hybrid object, virtual-real, the tag refers to its virtual counter-part, complement/undermine/commenting it.

– an object’s memory, available to the decoder, and collected by (mail/web/nfcboard).

– virtual graffiti, a camera obscura – creating of an inverted virtual-physical space.

– ambulating, walking, tagging, flaneur.

submit:

– content playable or bricked on mobile, portable devices, human senses and imagination.

– whatever you can conjure up related to the call, even if it is of a contrary stance.

– interventions and tripwires.

– submissions should contain: title, author, url or file(s), sticker graphics fitting on 9x 4,5cm in a landscape orientation with QR code title, author + whatever. we will print, cut and paste them onto the plantersigns. multiple stickers with QR codes are possible when needed! see: more works or text based works that are longer than approx. 255 words presented only on QR code. if you wish you can send us a NFC tag or an explanation why you need a NFC tag! sorry, guys we are working with a shoestring budget!

This is the first show of the 3rd edition of the “legendary” digital biennale of digital art in your city. In 2018, apart from Wawa, this independent idea generated in Wrocław, conquers other European cities like Gol in Norway, Amsterdam, Valencia … we also have plans for Berlin and Athens.
You cant miss it!
Grab your smartphone or tablet and prepare yourself for the stream of works made by dozens of Polish and foreign artists operating in the field of digital art based on web browsers.
This Saturday go outside ! You can watch #nfcdab shows individually as well as
with a group of friends. The Warsaw edition is hosted by V9 and ADA. But we go many steps further – during the festival the gallery will also outdoor. The map will lead you to art pieces.

YOUR PHONE IS A FRAME FOR PRESENTED WORKS !!!

We will provide you with the most amazing and unconventional examples sent to our biennials from the endless areas of the Internet. You will see net-art, post-conceptual digital art, glitch art, pseudo “viral” applications, independent music, strange and rare video clips, etc.

All works will be available using mobile devices through QR codes, WiFi routers or RIFID / NFC chips.

Before starting the artistic trip, approach ADY (Puławska 37 and V9 Gallery), where you will get a map with all useful information. The exhibition will take the form of a quasi urban game. You will win when you find works in the original circumstances of nature around.
IMPORTANT!
Prepare your mobile device in advance:
1. Check if you have the best QR code reading app suitable for your phone type.
2. Enter the communication settings and check if you have access to read NFC / RIFID tags and enable them.
3. In the exhibition area you can also connect to our special WiFi routers, thanks to which you will be able to download works prepared by artists for the shows.
4. Search for places with the Biennale logo attached – ART is waiting for you there. A map will lead you to them.
5. Check if you can install applications from unknown sources.
